Two of the most popular rappers around(T.I. and Bruno Mars) are currently facing drug charges.
It used to be that you could not be a rapper until you got shot, now I guess the badge of honor is drug possession.
Bruno Mars was arrested at the Hard Rock Casino and Hotel carrying 2.6 grams of cocaine with him. That amount is enough to make it a felony. A restroom attendant approached a security guard to inform him that a man seemed to be doing drugs in a stall. The security guard then called in the police. Before calling the police the guard asked Mars to hand over any narcotics he had. Mars then told the guard it was a foolish mistake and that he has never done drugs before. Mars was detained in the Clark County Detention center and then released. He will have to reappear in court on November 18.
T.I.'s recent arrest may cause a lot more damage than Mars. T.I. was arrested a few weeks ago for having methamphetamine in his car. He just got out of jail a few months ago for trying to buy illegal weapons. He was on probation for a year for this charge and it is not clear yet if he will be returning back to jail. It is definitely not a step in the right direction.
I just don't understand what the big deal is about drugs. Drugs are used for escapism, what do these people who are getting paid millions of dollars to do what they love trying to escape from?
