[TwilightNera's Entertainment Hotspot] Tiffany "New York" Pollard is back!

It's like we can't get rid of her. Usually I find her entertaining, if only for her sheer stupidity and her overt lack of talent but this just might be too much. You may recognize Mrs. New York from Flavor of Love and then her spin offs I Love New York and New York goes to Hollywood. Well she's back again with New York Goes to Work. Viewers will get to pick off a list of jobs like sewer cleaner or fast-food worker and if she works that job for a week she will get $5,000.
This seems really tired and played out too me, what do you think? Would you like to see Tiffany's crazy antics again or enough is enough?

[TwilightNera's Entertainment Hotspot] Eva Longoria Parker and Simon Baker Se...

Simon Baker of The Mentalist and Eva Longoria Parker of Desperate Housewives are crowned the sexiest people on T.V.

Baker beat out Ryan Kwentan of True Blood, David Boreanaz of Bones, George Eads of CSI and Patrick Dempsey of Greys Anatomy won two years in a row but didn't even make the top 10 this year.

Baker currently plays Patrick Jane on The mentalist (don't even like that show but I do confess I watch it to see him :)). Jane is psychic who works for the police force secretly trying to avenge the brutal murder of his wife and child. His film role credits are L.A. Confidential, Something New and Sex and Death 101 and more. He lives in L.A. with his wife Rebecca Wigg and their three kids.

Australian men are hot right now because this is the second Aussie to top a list in people in the last six months. Hugh Jackman made sexiest man 2008.

[Dhodholan of Bonsai Tree] Habitat garden show is rite of spring

This year's is scheduled for April 3-5
By MARTA HEPLER DRAHOS
mdrahos@record-eagle.com

TRAVERSE CITY -- The calendar may say it's spring, but for many in the region the season doesn't arrive until Habitat for Humanity's Spring Flower and Garden Show.
The 10th annual show takes place April 3-5 at the Grand Traverse County Civic Center's Howe Arena and organizers are hoping its timing during another rite of spring will work to their advantage.

"Our show is falling at spring break, but I'm hoping that will help rather than hinder attendance," said Robin Grubbs, executive director of Habitat for Humanity Grand Traverse Region. "With the economy, so many won't be leaving Traverse City for the warmer climates."

As in past years, the event will showcase the products and services of some 50 exhibitors, from nurseries to gardening and conservation groups to home and garden design and construction companies. But this year's event will feature a bigger silent auction, a nationally renowned speaker and an economy-inspired theme.

"Some of the exhibitors are focusing on 'do it yourself,' so families will feel they can use the exhibitors' services in a more affordable way," Grubbs said.

Besides garden and landscape displays, the show will feature free seminars every hour from 11 a.m. to close. Topics range from relandscaping a home and hiring a gardener to creating a fruit garden and growing food to save on grocery bills. This year's special guest is Anna Sangemino, a Benzie County herbalist who will present "Backyard Herbs for Flavor, Health and Aroma Therapy" at 11 a.m. April 4.

"She's had a booth for several years, but she's just gained in notoriety," said Grubbs, referring to Sangemino's two Country Living books, a segment on the home shopping network QVC and appearances at herb festivals and conferences nationwide.

Co-owner of Creation Farms and The Farm Store in Frankfort, Sangemino also will offer herb and vegetable plants; fresh greens, herbs and vegetables; and her own line of herbal skin care products including soaps, extracts, essential oils, moisturizers and salves. It's all part of what she calls a growing movement toward gardening and landscaping with culinary herbs.

"People can take an herb, put it in their yard, cook with it, make tea from it, put it on their skin in a moisturizer so their body will receive all of the nutrients and minerals from the plant, and enjoy the wonderful aroma of the herbs while they relax over dinner," Sangemino said.

The Sakura Bonsai Society of Northern Michigan will return to the show with a display of miniature sculpted trees. The club also will sell 15- to 18-inch Hinoki cypress trees planted in bonsai pots and ready for training. The $60 cost includes a year's membership in the club and a workshop later in the spring.

President Eric Hallman said the club typically picks up several new members at the show from among those attracted to the Chinese- and Japanese-style art.

"They're all very curious because they think that bonsai trees are like some exotic species, and we use mostly native Michigan plants," said Hallman, who trains 15 of the trees.

Chiropractor Kurt Froese won't offer spinal adjustment for gardeners who stoop, but will conduct screenings to measure function and performance of the nervous system.

"It's a way to reach out to people, and this is a place where a lot of people are," said Froese, of Lighthouse Chiropractic and Wellness Center.

The Spring Flower and Garden Show is Habitat for Humanity's signature fundraiser. It typically attracts between 4,000 and 6,000 visitors, with a goal of raising enough money to build one home in the region, Grubbs said. But with the downturn in the economy, sponsorships have declined this year.

"It's more difficult to secure cash sponsorship," Grubbs said. "Our saving grace is our ReStore, which people are donating good usable items to. And even with the shortfall, there is certainly no shortage of volunteers."

Grubbs said Habitat will run its own cut-flower booth at the show to earn extra revenue, along with a bigger-than-usual silent auction. Donated goods and services include a children's spa party and a stay at Great Wolf Lodge, a spa session at Crystal Mountain Resort & Spa, golf at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa, a photography session at Andy Wakeman Photography and two Record-Eagle subscriptions.

Show hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 3 and 4, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 5. Admission is $6. Children 5 and under get in free; children's activities include face painting, a treasure hunt, picture taking with a giant Easter basket and windsock making.

For more information, contact Habitat for Humanity at 941-4663 or habitatgtr@charterinternet.com.

[TwilightNera's Entertainment Hotspot] T.I. Does 1 year of Jail Time

T.I. will be doing 1 year and day of prison for trying to buy unregistered machine guns and silencers in 2007. He was supposed to get 10 years, but he settled for a plea deal. The deal included 1,000 hours of community service, $100,000 fine and then another 500 hours of community service.

He's started working on them by talking to school kids about violence (classic) and has a show on M.T.V. called T.I's Road to Redemption. The extra day was tacked on because if he was sentenced to any time less than a year he would have had to serve the whole term. He said, "Thank you to some and apologize to all." But he doesn't seem to worried about serving time or humbled about it, "I'm still going to be able to make things happen," he said. "From where I am I'll still be able to pull strings, call shots, put things in order that need to be put in order for his success to bring itself forth."

He expected to turn his self in for prison time on May 19Th

HELLO

HELLO EVERYONE

[TurnTheRadioOn] The New BayFM Tribe

TurnTheRadioOn welcomes the new tribe! Ang Bagong Ka-Tribo ng Subic Bay Radio (The new tribemates of Subic Bay Radio).

Here they are! (program highlights and photos of the new ka-tribo c/o DoubleB)

3am – 6am = "EARLY BREAKFAST JAM" with DJ Elton (solo)
60% Disco/M.O.R., 40% Mellow with live-phone-in callers / greetings

Subic Bay Radio's early morning program show – music with topic based live-on-air conversations. It's become a 24-hour world, and the Early Breakfast Jam is the perfect hangout for amnesiacs! Know what your friends are up to, and possibly hook up with them as well. We'll also let you in on what's happening around your 24-hour Subic Bay community.

6am – 9am = "GOOD MORNING SUBIC BAY" with DJ's Tommy G. & Lil' Chris (tandem)
80% Disco/M.O.R., 20% Mellow with live-phone-in callers / greetings

Currently handled by two of BAY FM's long time regular DJs – The program is a mid morning Pop format with playlist based on the most recent international music releases – Billboard Charts Top 100 songs US/UK with current entertainment & world showbiz info dissemination.

If your morning brew is not enough to perk you up, try a dose of Good Morning Subic Bay! With its perfect blend of pop hot music and a dash of mayhem, the journey from bed to the office just got a little better.

9am – 12nn = "PLAYTIME" with DJ's Alex & Eriq Nash (tandem)
60% Disco/M.O.R., 40% Mellow with live-phone-in callers / greetings

Reminiscent of the famous tandem show of Manila's Chico and Delamar while also patterned with some of Manila's top late morning programs designed to entertain both late risers and working people. It aims to boost the mid morning energy of all listeners through music and infotainment.

12nn – 3pm = "HAPPY HOUR" with DJ's Manay Junie, Jhepsz & Bubut (threesome)
60% Disco/M.O.R., 40% Mellow with live-phone-in callers / greetings

Modeled after top famous Manila threesome lunchtime wacky programs, your day will not be complete without your daily dose of humor, insanity, and music, music, music the Subic Bay way! The Happy Hour radio show lets you take control of our playlist as you cruise through the mid portion of your work day in euphoria.

The show is distinctly funny thanks to the humorous way the DJs go through the program. The DJs would regularly get SMS from listeners who would tell them that people would look at them like they were crazy while listening to the show. One particular case was of a certain listener alone in her car while driving from work to a restaurant for her lunch break and people from other vehicles were staring at her because they would see her laughing by herself. Another case would be a student listening to the show on his mobile phone, commuting on a jeepney and couldn't help but to laugh out loud, to the surprise and curiosity of his fellow commuters. A third case would be a worker at a certain SBMA company while in the employee's cafeteria currently on his lunch break listening to the show on his mp3 player, and grinning widely, trying not to laugh out loud while co-workers stares at him and wonders why the silly grin.

3pm – 6pm = "THE ALL HIT RADIO SHOW" with DJ Double B (solo)
50% Disco & M.O.R., 50% Mellow – with live-phone-in callers / greetings
(pure) Today's Hottest, Latest and Most Requested Songs

Take the music roller coaster that is The All Hit Radio Show! Whether you're finishing up on your work, doing late afternoon household chores, behind the wheel, in a jeepney or in the backseat of your ride back home, relax, rewind, rejuvenate and enjoy with all of Today's Hottest Hits with a veteran jock at the helm and in control of the console – Dj Double B!

6pm – 9pm = "THE MEAN GURLZ" with DJ's Eimee & Lindsay (tandem)
60% Disco/M.O.R., 40% Mellow with live-phone-in callers / greetings

Just like the famous tandem of Manila's Andi-9 and Jessica – Subic Bay's very own Lady Jocks par excellence can tackle any topic fit for teenagers and young urban professionals alike. Finally, the two most kikays of all takes control of the board from 6pm onwards; it's pretty Eimee who makes noise in the evening while sexy Lindsay jives, and both deeply entertain listeners through all the enjoyable segments of their program!

9pm – 12mn = "HEART AND SOUL" with DJ Bernie Mac (solo)
Classic, Classic Gold & Recall Love Songs

Say what's on your mind; long time BAY FM Radio Jock Bernie Mac is listening. Heart and Soul is where listeners' heart issues are given attention while songs of love serve as accompaniment.

Welcome to your new home, geeks!

[TurnTheRadioOn] A New Phase in BayFM

BayFM has been invaded! Not by aliens, silly...but by a new tribe of radio geeks now filling Subic Bay's airwaves.

Indeed, a lot of changes had happened since my last post (rant?) about our efforts to further develop Subic Bay's community FM station. Zaldy Dizon (from the SBMA Tourism Department) joined BayFM as our new marketing specialist (along with a new girl friday, Maureen). Our network, the Philippine Broadcasting Service (PBS) came running to BayFM's side to actively assist us in finally getting our long-desired equipment which we hope would materialise soon (fingers crossed).

And then, enter the new tribe. Led by Andy Magcale (DJ DoubleB) who joined us as our new consultant for operations, these guys are, shall I say, really not that new in the business being that they had their stints in other stations in nearby Olongapo City and are local radio celebrities in their own right.

Of course, with this new line-up comes new programming. After a lot of prior discussions with DoubleB and BernieMac, we decided to go 50-50 (English and Tagalog spiels) and target mass-based listeners (with a reminder though of our responsibility to the higher-end Subic Bay-based audience). So...we did it. The first week of the new tribe was a bit strange for me (and a little scary). Since regular BayFM listeners are used to our less talk-more music high-end programming, I wasn't really sure how they would respond to this really drastic change (and its my neck on the chopping board).

Also signalling this new phase, BayFM now carries the better and apt tag Subic Bay Radio (well, we are the official radio station of Subic Bay...right?).

Well, I'm so glad I didn't give in to my fears and I'm so excited to say that right now, everybody's having fun listening to BayFM!

[Riz's Martial Arts Training] Fighting Fit – Cardio & Conditioning

One of the earliest posts I wrote on this blog was The Triangle Hypothesis, which talked about three facets key to improving as a martial artist or fighter. For those of you who've read it, you may remember that I chose to add 'C' to the 'triangle' that many past instructors of mine had related to me. The C in this case stood for Cardio & Conditioning. The logic behind my decision was that without the right levels of fitness and body conditioning, you would be unable to fully utilise the three corners of the triangle that are Power, Speed, and Technique. This post intends to elaborate that view.

It's not by sheer randomness either - While rolling last night (my first night back! *sigh*), I was caught in a surprise Achilles ankle lock (and took a nasty elbow to the brow) and as a result, walking just doesn't feel right anymore – but instead of depressing you (my ever-emphatic reader) with a post about how my leg hurts or about how my eye looks like I was the loser of the Thriller in Manila; I'm going to write about my clever improvement of my instructors' theory with C (even though I'm pretty sure most of them just assume that C is a given).

"Minds, like bodies, will fall into a pimpled, ill-conditioned state from mere excess of comfort."

- Charles Dickens

It's no secret that the more time you spend on the mats (whether rolling, stand-up sparring or drilling), the faster you will improve. And we always hear how martial arts (especially those considered 'Traditional' styles) are all about Technique being used to overcome Athleticism, so then why have I devoted an entire post to Cardio/Conditioning? The answer in short, is that unless you have vastly superior technique to everyone else – your endurance and conditioning is going to play a factor.  pe de pano

If you're looking to excel in competition (you old glory hound, you), stamina is clearly needed as you'll have to spar several rounds with relatively little rest in-between. Furthermore, if you like competing in the Absolute division (or equivalent weight-free zone), it's possible that you'll be sparring against bigger, stronger opponents who will sap the stamina out of you! There's little you can do when you're completely drained of energy against a well-trained bigger, stronger opponent so the best option is to train hard before the competition to ensure it doesn't happen.

"The time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining."

- John F. Kennedy

Non-competitive types need to be wary of the same points. You may not be competing at tournaments but note that the competition format is pretty similar to sparring sessions in training. If you don't have a high level of stamina, you won't be able to train as efficiently – i.e. Half of your 2 hour training session is wasted if you only manage to train hard for 1 hour before gassing. Though some of you may here point out that training isn't about all about 'quantity' but rather 'quality'…and you're right. However, once you begin to fatigue, your technique without a doubt begins to slowly deteriorate and while training at this point is arguably still beneficial (any training is better than none in my opinion), it is less efficient (the exception here is when you intentionally fatigue your body so as to limit your use of strength and to focus on working techniques).

And as an old boxing coach used to tell me: physical fitness improves 'mental toughness'. But is that enough? Sadly, no – as martial artists, our training all too often focuses on 'dishing out' while we spend relatively little time conditioning ourselves for the more unpleasant reverse scenario of being the 'main dish' (also quoting my old boxing coach).

In fact, I'll just explain it to you the way the old man would rant about it to me (minus some explicit wisdom)! It helps to know that Coach A was appalled by modern boxing tactics where boxers 'dance around' and 'play for points', he was a staunch believer that you punch for the knockout ("There's no such thing as a jab" he'd say).

Exercises to toughen the body have been all but forgotten. Competition has led to extensive cardio training so that fighters can last entire fights (most of which are spent running in every direction except towards your opponent). Exercises to toughen the body to withstand the rigours and demands of training and combat have been more or less discarded. Coach A used the example that most boxers have never boxed without heavy gloves and thorough wrapping – how's one expect to condition their VV1882hands if they're wrapped up and then further protected by a fat padded glove? Jack Dempsey makes a point of it in his book Championship Fighting: Explosive Punching and Aggressive Defense, urging the rookie boxer to train with 'striking gloves' or by "snipping the fingers of a pair of leather work gloves" so that he can condition his fists.

Martial arts such as Karate require even more conditioning to deal with tackles and attacks below the waist. Furthermore, developing the ability to withstand the constant (but minor) injuries sustained in training is paramount as it to an extent, dictates the level of confidence you have in the said art – so hit that makiwara until it apologises to you!

The Best Way to Cardio and Conditioning

This is one of those obvious points that's so obvious people don't notice it. The best way to develop the required stamina and conditioning for your martial art is simply to train…a lot! Not only does that ensure that you'll be developing your body in a natural way that complements your art but, you'll be doing it via means that you already love doing (the assumption here is that you enjoy training)! Make sure to train hard and push yourself in all aspects of your art, otherwise you may find your body woefully underprepared later… and please make sure to properly warm-up, stretch, and cool-down. Here's a clip of Goju Ryu 10th dan Morio Higaonna – he uses a rock to condition his fists… He's a scary man (though apparently a really nice guy too!).

The next best thing…

If you're gym/dojo/basement happens to be closed, you're a little shy about training in the park, and no one is around to play sports with, there are plenty of other options. Main thing – find something challenging that you enjoy. Personally, I hate elliptical and body building machines so I steer clear of them. Instead I prefer to swim (with the occasional bit of underwater karate when the coast is clear!) or go for runs at varying speeds (undisciplined interval training). One of my training partners hates exercise and formal workouts; he instead chooses to dance on days off from the dojo – I've joined him a couple of times… two hours of salsa/hip hop is surprisingly hard work!

Dieting

Though I know plenty of people that are constantly dieting in order to make weight, I'm not really a fan of the process. Personally, I think it's better in the long run to follow some healthy eating habits and maintain a weight that is natural to your body even if it means that you end up at the bottom of your weight category – after all, why would anyone really want to fight someone much smaller than them (unless the ickle opponent is an absolute badass)?

Recovery Time

Whatever means of cardio and conditioning you choose, make sure to get in ample recovery time. Not only will this help your absorb information/techniques faster but it will allow you to perform at a higher rate with a lower risk of injury. And yes, sometimes you'll just need a week or two out from training – don't worry about losing the short term training as taking time off not only helps you recuperate but, it also allows your body to fully assimilate the training you have done recently (just be sensible about how often you take time off).

*Sigh!*Amir Khan - Barrera

You may have noticed that I've used more boxing references than I usually do in this post. It's because my head is still going over Amir Khan's defeat of Marco Antonio Barrera from last week. The "Baby-faced Assassin" (Barrera) is one of my favourite boxers and it's sad to see him dominated (though I suppose I must admit, he has been on the decline for some time now). Ah well…c'est la vie!

[A Life of Rhyme] Poem about Angels and Love

Dante and Beatrice gaze upon the highest Heave...Image via Wikipedia

Poem About Angels and Love

This poem is about angels bringing a message of love to someone in despair, to give them comfort in the knowledge that no matter who or where we are, we are all loved in some way.

Angel of Love

As you fall upon your bended knee
Hands clasped together you make your plea
To the lord of heaven and the skies above
Show me a sign, send me your love
And with the smell of roses and feathered wings
A message for you, an angel brings
Within yourself, is where to start
For the love you seek is in your heart
And in those moments of despair
Take comfort knowing its always there

[Dhodholan of Bonsai Tree] Weyerhaeuser closing bonsai collection

Another information regarding to the Bonsai Show.

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - Weyerhaeuser Company has announced that the Pacific Rim Bonsai Collection, located at its corporate headquarters in Federal Way, will be closed to the public as of April 2. The Collection of 60 trees from six Pacific Rim nations has been in operation for 20 years. More than 30,000 people visit the Collection each year.

"The decision to close the Collection is part of a continuing response by Weyerhaeuser to the extraordinary economic uncertainty and the need to continue to reduce general and administrative expenses" said Ernesta Ballard, senior vice president, corporate affairs. Curator David De Groot said the Collection will be re-opened for one weekend in May, Mother's Day weekend, for the city's Buds & Blooms festival. De Groot said during the closure the collection of bonsai will be kept intact and well maintained, with the hope that it will one day be put back on public display.

"We therefore are saying 'so long' rather than 'goodbye,' he said.

[auto insurance] Auto Insurance Tips- 5 Car Insurance Tips to Save You Money

Here are some great tips that could save you money on auto insurance.

1. Raise Your Deductible

One way to save money on car insurance is to raise your deductible. A higher deductible will result in a lower premium. Just remember that you will need to pay the deductible in the event of the accident. So don't raise it so high, that you can't afford to pay it if you were ever to get in an accident.

2. Take a Driver's Safety Course

Did you know that taking a course in Driver's Safety could save you money on your policy? Many companies offer discounts to customers who complete an approved driving course. See if your insurance company could offer you a discount for this.

3. Choose your Car Wisely

You may not be in the market for a new car right now, but when you are thinking of a purchasing a new vehicle, choose wisely. Don't just look at the sticker price on the vehicle when shopping. Certain cars are more costly to insure than others, so you could end up paying a lot more in car insurance than you expected if you buy that nice sports car instead of the four door sedan. Cars that are more likely to be stolen or that have parts that cost more to replace will be more expensive to insure. Keep that in mind when you decide to purchase a new car.

4. Drive Less

You may be wondering how driving less will save you money on car insurance. Well, many companies offer discounts to people who meet certain low mileage requirements. Start carpooling to work or school. Not only could it save you money on car insurance, but it will also save you money on gas!

5. Compare Quotes from Multiple Companies

You may already have an auto insurance policy in place or you may be looking for one right now. Whatever your situation, it is always important to stay on top of car insurance rates that different companies are offering. If you already have a policy, compare quotes every six months or so to make sure you are getting the best rates out their for your situation. If you are looking for a policy, be sure to shop around before deciding on a company

[A Little Boy's Blog] His First Swimming Lesson

After being canceled for about two months because of the rainy season, starting this month the swimming class is opened again. Yesterday was my son's first swimming lesson. Even though the pool is part of the school's facility and designed for kindergarten kids, still I was concerned at first about his safety like being left unsupervised for example. But the teacher assured us that there be enough staff to help the kids.

The Pre-K swimming class is scheduled every other Monday. Evan was supposed to have his first lesson two weeks ago but was delayed due to public holiday. Thankfully the weather was good yesterday morning, otherwise it would be another delay. They started the lesson by doing warm up and stretching activities before jumped to the pool. Which is a good reminder for us since we never do such things when we go swimming with our son.

The teacher was right, there were plenty of staff helping the kids in the water. There was a swim teacher who gave basic instructions to each kid, and others who supervised and helped the kids practicing their lessons.

They also encouraged kids not to use their swim ring so they could learn better. While some kids refused it, my son obeyed them ;). They told us swimming without swim ring is a way to teach little children to depend on adults instead of any flotation toy while they're in the water. It will keep us adults to always be alert either.

Have a good day :)

[Soft Loan For You Car] Tips For Getting A Car Loan With Less Than Perfect Cr...

Purchasing a car can be a stressful experience for anyone. Besides a house, this is probably the largest purchase you will ever make. Not many of us can make this large purchase with cash. And as we all know, the most stressful part of the process is waiting to find out if you meet the criteria to be approved for your car loan.

If you're like me, perhaps you have been late on a credit card payment, or have a past due cell phone bill. Statistics have shown that a very large percentage of people in the United States have less-than-perfect. As you're well aware, these late payments and collections accounts are placed on your credit report. The three major credit reporting agencies then use all of your information to formulate a credit score. This is what the dealer will use to determine whether or not they can grant you financing.

Before I worked as a salesman and finance manager in the automotive, I was convinced that if I got turned down at one dealership, then I would be turned down everywhere. Fortunately, for those of us with poor credit, this is not always the case. For many people in this situation, a little extra time and research can set you back on the path to car ownership. I have listed some of the best things you can do below.

Get a copy of your credit report. This is very important. You can request a copy from any, or from all three of the credit reporting agencies. Recently, a law was passed that allows you to get one free copy of your credit report annually. Go over your report with a fine-toothed comb. If there are any mistakes, such as inaccurate addresses, accounts, etc., dispute the information with the credit reporting agency. They will have to prove their validity, or remove the inaccurate information. This can have a significant effect on your credit score. Speaking of credit scores...

Know your credit score in advance. It used to be that it was hard for an individual to gain access to his credit score. It is now possible for anyone to get access to this vital piece of information. This is information that can also be obtained from the three credit reporting agencies.

Do not finance through the dealer. Dealers are known for adding a point or two to interest rates that they have received from banks. This is pure profit for them. Say they get you approved at 5%, but they tell you it's 7%, that's an extra 2% that goes directly to them. When you consider the price of a new car these days, that's a considerable amount of money. With this in mind...

Shop around. Go to your local banks and credit unions, or check online to see what type of financing you can qualify for. Many times you can be pre-approved for a specific amount at a specific rate. Having this knowledge before you start shopping will be a huge weight off your back. It will also give you more control over the purchasing process. The dealer will no longer be able to pressure you into the deal this is most advantageous for himself.

Start working on your poor credit. I know what you're thinking...it's easier said than done. But if we ever want to get out of the "subprime" market, it's something we have to focus on. With bad credit, you can count on paying a higher interest rate on your new car purchase. Sometimes this higher rate can amount to thousands of dollars of extra interest over the life of the loan. If you are in dire need of transportation, you may have to settle for the higher rate this time. But with some work on improving your credit score, maybe next time around you will be able to secure a much better rate.

Don't make your situation worse. Whatever your circumstances, don't make a decision that will make your credit situation worse. Do not allow a finance manager to pressure you into taking on a payment you know you cannot afford. If you have 3000 or 4000 dollars for a down payment, but the car you want is still going to burden you with large monthly payments, you may want to consider spending that money on a quality used car.

You certainly don't need me to tell you that securing a car loan with bad credit is difficult. However, if you can follow some of the tips I've given you, and get working on that credit score, it is definitely not an impossible situation. Good luck in your search for affordable transportation!

[Insurance for Our Healthy] Health Insurance Premiums Are Affected by Nine Fa...

Health insurance plans are rather expensive. There are nine factors that have influence on the cost of your plan. Learn what they are and their consequences on the premium.

Whatever you do, please work with an experienced agent. He can explain how this works and help you to understand the different terms and how the factors affect your quote. There is no cost to you to use a good agent and he can make the shopping experience less stressful.

Let's go through the different factors now:

Age: As you might guess, the younger you are, the less you have to pay for health insurance. Why? Because generally speaking, younger people are healthier than older people. As we age, different and various illnesses show up.

Perhaps you are eating too well and you develop type 2 diabetes. Maybe you don't get the exercise you should. Certainly, you will agree, that younger people are usually healthier than older people.

Gender: Males are much less complicated than women. This is said, tongue in cheek, but you might also agree. Just take the annual physical for example. A woman needs an OBGYN exam, a mamagram, pap smear along with all the other blood tests to determine if she is well. Men usually will have blood tests and a cancer screening PSA test.

Psychologically, women tend to use medical services much more than men, also. A typical man feels invulnerable and won't go to the doctor unless he is really sick. I know, this is generalization, but it is frequently true!

Health history: How healthy have you been? Are you the right weight for your height and gender? Have you developed a condition such as elevated blood pressure or elevated cholesterol? Our human body is extremely complex and so many things can go wrong.

Healthy individuals will get a lower premium quote because the health insurance company in NC extrapolates your health into the future. Healthy people tend to remain healthy. A person with many health challenges, will have those challenges or more in the future.

Exercise: People who exercise typically have fewer problems with their weight. They have less susceptibility to insulin resistance - type 2 diabetes. They have fewer health problems of any kind.

The recommended minimum amount of exercise for Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina is twenty minutes of exercise for three times per week. Obviously, you can exercise more than this, but if you do at leas this amount, it will be beneficial.

Whether already insured: If you have been covered by a health plan for years, the new insurance company interested in insuring you is less worried.

Certainly, if you have been under a doctor's care, it is less likely that you will develop an undiagnosed condition that the new insurance company would be responsible for.

Perhaps the most difficult person to insure is one who has never had a family doctor. He may think that he is very healthy because he has not needed to see a medical person.

However, there may be some condition that has been developing over the years that he is unaware of. That is why health insurance companies are happier if they need to insure someone who has had continual health coverage.

Type of plan chosen: If you choose a relatively new type of plan called a high deductible health plan, and use it in conjunction with a health savings account, you will definitely save money.

The HSA type plan costs you less each month in premium amount. It costs about $60 for a doctor sick visit, but you are likely to save thousands of dollars each year on premiums.

In addition, if you have a high deductible health plan, you can open up a health savings account at your local bank.

Money that you deposit into your health savings account can be used for any medical expense...and importantly, that money is not taxed! Money that escapes taxation saves you about 40%.

By the way, if you don't spend all your savings in any year, it doesn't matter. It doesn't go away like in a flexible spending account. This savings money is yours, like an IRA, and it will be there to help you pay your medical expenses. At the age 65, you can take the money out of your account and use it for anything you'd like...finally though, you will have to pay taxes on the money.

If you spend your health savings account on qualified medical expenses, you will not have to pay income tax on this money. Great sound to that eh?

Deductible chosen: If you choose a high deductible plan, the insurance provider will not charge you as much of a penalty, called a "rate up".

A rate up is extra premium that that require because you may be on high blood pressure medicine, for example. That rate up takes into consideration that you will need medication for the rest of your life, most likely.

If you choose a high deductible plan, they calculate that you are willing to take on more risk. Consequently, the insurance provider won't have to charge you as much monthly premium. If you are looking to save money, choose a higher deductible plan.

Insurance company: The insurance company that you choose is very important in how you will be charged. Some insurance providers have many subscribers in the state and consequently, they can spread the risk over many, many people.

As an example, BCBSNC, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina insures about 90% of the people in NC. Consequently, their rates are more stable and they aren't affected by pockets of the state that my turn up to be less healthy.

The insurance company is important in being able to see the doctor of your choice and go to whichever hospital you need to go to.

Because an insurance company has great penetration in a state, means that virtually all the doctors and all the hospitals will participate as a health provider. That's good for you because you have better choices.

Health Insurance Agent: A good agent who specializes in health insurance can provide you with a depth of knowledge about the plans that might fit you best. Another way the agent can help is interpreting how to answer the questions.

Many times, people read something into the question that isn't there, and answer it improperly. You don't want to answer a question that wasn't asked. Ask your agent his opinion about what it means. The agent is paid a commission by the insurance company - not the insured. It is advisable to use in insurance agent who has specialized.
